ICCS 2011
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to the 2011 meeting of the International
Clinical Cytometry Society at the Hilton Portland &
Executive Tower in Portland, Oregon. Joe DiGiuseppe,
the program chair, and the rest of the program
committee have once again put together an outstanding
program that I’m sure will be of interest. The meeting
is preceded by the Society’s Clinical Cytometry Course
organized by ICCS Senior Councilor and soon to be
Vice President, Jeannine Holden.
Educational programs are the heart of our society, and
we are continuing some of the most popular features
of our meeting, including our luncheon workshops
and our Case Study Interpretation session. The
meeting this year continues to offer the opportunity
for continuing medical education (CME) credit as
well as self-assessment modules (SAMs) needed for
physician recertifcation, and we encourage you to take
advantage of these opportunities.
I would like to personally thank our many exhibitors
and supporters. Without their generous contributions,
convening this meeting would be prohibitively
expensive. Please make sure to visit the exhibit halls
during the breaks and fnd out about the newest
products. Your attention and interest in the exhibits
provide incentive for the continued support of our
meetings by these companies.
This year, ICCS has begun to focus more directly on the
international nature and aspirations of the organization.
To this end, you will have noticed strong international
representation among the candidates selected by
the Nominating Committee for the positions of ICCS
Council in the recent election. We are hoping in future
years that this will extend to nominations for Senior
Councilor. In addition, ICCS has began an initiative
to encourage both the formation of regional clinical
cytometry societies and to encourage their affliation
with ICCS. As part of this initiative, ICCS with the
support of the Wallace Coulter Foundation is funding
travel expenses for representatives from affliated
societies outside the US, Canada and Europe to attend
the ICCS course and meeting, as well as to have
